    Default brewing a red and cream ale

    Well I am running low on beer so I am going to do a double brew this evening.

    First up will be the cream ale

    5# 2row
    5# Pilsner
    .25# crystal 10

    .75oz willamette 60min
    .50oz cascade 15min

    then a american red ale

    9# 2row
    1# Carapils
    1# Munich
    .50# Crystal 20
    .25# Crystal 90
    3oz Black Patent

    1oz Willamette 60 min
    .50oz Willamette 30 min
    .50oz Willamette15 min
    I will use WLP 001 on both and mash both about 150

    this will be my first time to try a cream ale with a good yeast so I hope it turns out good. I am also going to do fermentation temp control with the cream ale, I am going to try and keep it around 60-63

    No corn in the cream ale? I don't know for sure, but wouldn't that be more of an APA without the corn? They both look rather tasty though Think I'll brew Sunday, maybe a Saison.

    I have been looking at a lot of cream ale recipes and some use corn and some do not.

    I would use some corn but my LHBS does not carry any, so I hope with the pilsner malt and low hop IBU it will be far from an apa or I hope lol

    here is a recipe from Northern berwer

    * 7 lbs. Rahr 2-Row Pale
    * 0.75 lbs. Gambrinus Honey Malt
    * 0.25 lbs. Dingemans Biscuit

    Boil Additions

    * 1 oz. Willamette (60 min)
