    Default Yorkshire cake vs S-04

So I did a twins batch of SMaSH and used two different yeasts. FIgured I'd share the results here.

The yorkshire yeast cake knocked it down from 1.060 to 1.008

The s-04 took it down to 1.012

The yorkshire cake added a LOT of yeast flavor and esthers fermenting around 66F ambient. The S-04 is pretty damn clean and surprisingly enough, at this time (may be the yorkshire is just too young) I'm really enjoying the S-04 more. Fairly clean, nice little body and the flavors of the maris and EKG are much more clear and delightful. I'll be sure to post back if anything changes in a week or two.

I'd love to see some detailed comparisons as this batch matures out...what's your serving temps with these beers?

I'm liking SO-4 too. It is clean tasting, and I like the compact cake it gives. I did two SMaSHes recently, an MO/Fuggles and an MO/EKG both got down to 1.008 at 68F. I don't have a recent comparison for the SO-4 though, as I've been using it exclusively for about 4 months now.

My records show OG 1.040 FG 1.010, which agreed with Beersmith.

    Maybe I'm remembering it wrong.

I KNOW I had 1.008 on something, but can I find which bloody brew it was? Can I buggery!

I think if you go from 1.060 to 1.008 with 1469, you picked up something wild.
So what would MODOK do if his memory got too full?
He'd find a powersource and then he'd pick what plugs to pull.

Nothing wild tasting in there so much as just pretty fruity. I think that will die down ther. And the beer looked clean in the fermenter when I transfered over to the keg. It had to be the low mash temp and using just the basemalt.
