Default How much grain into 5 gallon bucket?

Brewing this weekend and using my new Barley Crusher. I picked up a 5 gallon bucket from ShitDepot to mill the grain into and I'm wondering if anyone knows how much grain will fit into the bucket. The "Can I Mash It?" Calculator doesn't seem to be around anymore. (Clarification: This is not to mash, just for dry grain storage - I was planning on just using the calc. with the mash ratio set to 0).

I am curious for both buying grain in bulk and transporting grain when I brew off site.

Thanks. Setting the Mash thickness to 0.001 to override the >0 error it maxes out around 62 pounds. Just remembered there were no lids for this stupid $2 bucket, though.

Off hand I don't see a 55# sack of grain fitting in a 5 gal bucket, let alone 62#s...around 25# sounds more appropriate.

Those plastic jars that morebeer used to use for extract are 1 gal and fit 5# of grain, so that's why I'm thinking 25.
Once it's milled you can probably fit more, but I don't know how much more.

I am looking at around 23-24 pounds for my grainbill, so it should be a good way to estimate. I will report back this weekend unless someone posts with a conclusive answer.

i just bought 330 pounds of grain and put it into buckets for storage. 25 pounds will fit in a 5 gallon bucket and thats about the max. that is uncrushed though im not sure how much of a diff that will make.

I've noticed it being around 5lbs per gallon... I've actually brewed using that as my measuring device beer turned out fine

The grain mill I use (borrow a friends till I get my own) has a 7# hopper on it and I can fill the hopper 3 to 3 1/2 times and that will fill a five gallon bucket to the top. So Aprox 21 to 25 pounds of crushed grain in the bucket. I can fill it 4 times with my 6 gallon bucket. So basically I am agreeing with everyone who posted above me and have nothing really usefull to add
