I was wondering if any of you AG'ers out there could tell me about how long I should steep the "carafa I" ? This is a recipe I'm going to try in the not to distant future, I've had Sam Adams Black Lager and fell in love with it. So I want to try my hand at making one. If you guys got any Idea's I would appreciate it.

I'm so jealous you can brew this. I still don't have the setup for doing lagers but I want to make a schwarzbier REALLY friggin' bad.

Technically, I don't have the stuff to do it. But if I get a external thermostat my sister had promised to give me her chest freezer. I'm really dying to start doing AG and lagers as well, just don't have the space at the moment. I hope I get to do this recipe soon though.... It's killing me...I want to try a homebrew black lager. I want to MAKE a good homebrew black lager....ARGGHH!

I think I'm going to try this with a 1007 cake after I brew my alt. Might come close to a lager at the low end of the temp range, 55-68° F. I can manage that temp in my basement now.
So what would MODOK do if his memory got too full?
He'd find a powersource and then he'd pick what plugs to pull.
