    Question Hop Spider

I'm going to fabricate a hop spider before my next hoppy brew.

Question - any changed in when I should make my hop additions (I'm still sticking with NB Extract kits)? How about technique? Just make the additions and the boil action of the wort is enough to infuse the flavors? Should I then pull the spider / spent hops before I start chilling?

    Thanks!

I make no changes for when I use hop bags vice loose hops so I wouldn't make any changes for a hop spider either. Also, I would leave the hops in for the cooling process unless they are in the way. It will probably only effect your late additions but you continue to extract hoppiness even well below boiling temp.

Shouldn't be an issue leaving the bag in during cooling for me as it'll just rest inside my chiller coils.

I used to use a hop spider. I've switched to using just a large mesh bag I picked up from the Hops Shack (local hbs)
I drop the hops into the bag and clip it to the top of my bk. It's easy to use and clean up.
