    Default A full size boil of an extract batch?

    Anyone ever try this? say start with 6 gallons and adjust it to 5 after the hour boil.
    got 2 batches left and want to test my chiller.
    On Deck: O'Flans
    Primary: Air
    Secondary: Air
    Bottled: Store bought
    Kegged ,Empty,Empty,Empty....
    Someone needs to get busy!!!!

    Most of us did that when we were doing extract. Its called full volume boil. Its like making soup, you want it all together not strong concentrated soup that you add water to before you eat it.

    sure...but I would calc your pre-boil volume so you wind up with 5 post boil rather than just starting with 6 and trying to adjust to 5.

    PLUS, don't forget to adjust your bittering hops. You'll use about 1/2 of the bittering hops or one with a lower AA%

    I still do extract batches and I always do a full volume boil. The results are markedly improved by using a larger volume boil IME.
