    Default 2'nd batch of Jarods ancient orange mead

    Ok so I tweaked the recipe a bit this time a little less honey per gallon and less orange. I also put the rasins through the food procceser this time and made a paste of them, Hence my question. The rasin paste turned the must black is this something that will drop out, or have invented black mead?

    Well it'll still be mead, so live and learn I guess. I just didn't want to have to strain out all the rasin again this time.

    My memory on mead is a bit foggy - the raisins are to provide the necessary nutrients to the yeast, yes?

    Yes, I Popped the top last night there was a layer of yellow rasin peices on the top. I gently moved them to the side the Must is now a hazy gold color. So I'm guessing that the yeast either ate the black stuff or it all settled out.
