    Default Free Brew Stand

I got a piece of exercise equipment for free from a neighbor. My kid used it for a few years until he lost interest. The same thing can often be found on Craigslist for free.

Mine did not look this good.

I disassembled it into its component parts taking care to keep all the hardware and fasteners. I have been hording other pieces of steel from previous non-brewing related projects that I had but did not really end up using much of it.

After some imaginative thinking, I rearranged it into a new shape and installed some casters I had laying around the shop.

Taaa Daaa - Free Brew Stand !

I can mostly gravity feed from the tun to the boil kettle, I usually end up getting the last gallon out using a household pitcher.

I used a step drill to make a few new holes and used all of their most excellent stainless hardware and lock nut fasteners to put it all together. I used the burner off a bayou cooker I had been using to brew and another semi cheesy one I got off an old smoker.

All in all, it was a good days work and I have now used it for about 5 brews. I have some upgrades coming soon that I have the parts for but simply do not have the time to fabricate and install.

The sturdiness of it compared to my jury rigged cobble of workmates, wood and other less than confidence inspiring contraptions is a huge relief.

Keep your eyes and mind open and you can get create some interesting things !

    Cheers,
