I am in the middle of career change and think I'd like to do this as a hobbey and if thngs works right hopefully new profession.
I searched online and with the wealth of schools which promise to teach it all, I appreaciated if any of you guys who are involved in brewing can help.
    Many Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to the forum Isaac.

As far as schools for brewing go there are two that top the list located in the US. From what i have heard anyway. The University of California Davis http://extension.ucdavis.edu/unit/brewing/, and the Sieble Institute of Technology http://www.siebelinstitute.com/ I have heard good things about both programs.

The head brewer at Upland Brewing Co. In Bloomington IN (one of my local hangouts) graduated from the master brewers program at UC Davis and has nothing but wonderful things to say about the program. I talked to him at some length about it when i was toying with the notion of trying it out.

There are others out there, one in kentucky I believe, but I haven't heard much about them. Also I have heard of people doing independant studies at other colleges and universities. There is also many brewers programs abroad in Europe, specifically Belgium and Germany.

Good on you for wanting to get into it that much, it's a hard life from what i have seen, i.e. long hours, and grueling work, without that much incentive (pay). But it's the passion that drive brewers to do what they do, not the promise of fortune and fame.

Where are you located at? How long have you been a brewer? Again welcome to the forum.

I hear tons of professional brewers come out of the UC Davis program, also, if you are willing to study abroad, some amazing schools for brewing are in Germany.

Welcome to the forum and the hobby! Your gonna love it. Feel free to post any questions you have.

    Hi guys.

    Many Thanks for your help.

In fact I was just looking at the UC DAVIS School just before i have posted my question.

I have found many sites which for some I could tell they aren't worth it and some which looks more promising. But I thought to better ask you guys hopefully with your experience will help me cut the guessing game, which did eliminated many because of your answer.

Now the question is whether to study in the US or in Europe? Amongst others I have found this site which has nice list of schools (just in case somebody else will be interested):

Abut the quesation one of you asked, I am photographer (artist all the way), lived in NYC and although love it I got tired from the $$ rush. So I took Sabbatical studied baking in Israel and now want to learn brewing good beer, working hard for my art doesn't scared me, as long as I can make enough living and as an artist I know the rewards of creating something good from nothing and the joy of it after all the hard work. Also I have never made beer before but the last 2-3 weeks reading more about it and getting more into it.

Thanks again guys, it's very nice of you.

Good luck with what ever you decide to go after. If you go to one of the schools, it would be nice to see some commentary/blogging on the site as you go.
