shoot for 185 going into my HLT, that puts me right bellow 170 when I put it in my mash.
Primary - Murphys wit V 2.0, Berliner Weiss.
Secondary - Sour Cherry saison,
Bottled- Water to barleywine, Belgian Sour pale ale
On tap- Huge Belgian IIPA,
Generally between 170-175
I usually set up my HLT to about 180 that way it hits the Tun a little above 170.

i shoot for 175 in the HLT so by the time i stir the mash its usally right at 154... but i had some serious issues last time so I dont know if that is the best idea anymore...

I just realized how much of a noob i am... thats my mash temp... i sparge at 175 and havent seen a problem

I heat my sparge water to 190 to end up around 170 in the tun.My garage stays pretty cool hence so does my grain.I heat my mash water to near 180 to achieve 150 for the mash.
