    Default Fermentation Cabinet

Just wanted to say hello. It has been a long time since I have posted anything.

I picked up a free refrigerator a few months ago, but it is just not tall enough to put any kegs or carboys in it. So I was searching online and seen were a few home brewers made their own fermentation cabinets. Some used ice and fan others used mini fridge components.

    here is the fridge

Yep it is old and ugly, but it works well.

Now Time for building the cabinet

I am not going for anything super nice, This is only going to sit in my shop, and only be used to ferment ales. So main goal is holding 65-70 degrees in the summer and be cheap to build.

Just a simple box that will hold 3-4 carboys/better bottles.

Here it is with the compressor mounted.

    Adding some foam for insulation

I still need to build the top and finish insulating everything, but it is coming along. I did a test today, I put a sheet of foam to cover the top and ran it about 5 minutes. The temp was 60 after 5 minutes... not bad. I am planning on adding some small fans to circulate air across the flat coil on the inside.
