Hi! I'm the one who started this forum. I'm (*edit:was*) a very, very active member at another homebrew forum on the web, but sometimes it is just so over policed by the moderators that I need to step away from it. I figure I could start a forum of my own that would kind of get away from that. So, if arguments arise on this forum, I will not interfere unless it gets completely out of hand and people start leaving the community over it. I will not ban any topics: religion, politics, have at it! But keep it in the off topic forums. I will ban spammers and people who are just trying to be rude with no other clear intentions. And keep any NSFW nudie pics to just the drunk forum.

I also have a lot of plans for the site. Very cool "recipe book" type applications, galleries, event planners and much more.

OK! Welcome to the forums, if you are reading as a guest, go on and sign up! It's free and the discussions can use your input!

I'm not ready to turn my back on HBT, but I will say that I noticed the changes over there some time ago, and do understand what people are upset about. The Cheesefood incident certainly left me a little cold...I'm not close enough to the issue to pass judgment on him or any of the mods involved, but it sure seems sad that a better outcome wasn't arrived at. (And I believe even the mods in question share that sentiment to a degree.) I still enjoy the forum, but the warm fuzzy vibe over there does seem to be slipping away. It's possible to wield authority without creating a "my way or the highway" atmosphere, but apparently that's an elusive skill.

I do remain hopeful that things can improve over there, and it still is pretty relaxed compared to many public forums. However, there is always room for another homebrewing forum (or two!) so I'll do what I can to contribute here, as well as at Cheese's forum. Hopefully both will be a success.

    Cheers,
    -Lars

Thanks BLLars! It really shows the good people that are over at HBT when they are willing to come over to other forums and contribute with ex HBT members ... as far as the mods, hey, the majority of them are nice people, but the ones in question with my situation gave me zero warning and banned me for a new rule they made up on the spot. Oh well. That site is so popular now and they are making some good money of the paying members (including me) and the ads that they are running it like a business and not a community. Which makes sense, but I'd rather not be a part of it.

As far as HBT... that's it, I'm done talking about it. HBC is here to stay and may take some time to grow, but will be a great, online homebrewing community as well.

Good thing we happen to know a thing or two about promoting websites and how to optimize. What we really need is a GOOD recipe Database and a GOOD "How To" section. I have some good recipes on hand that I'll contribute here. We'll build up a nice list of different recipes and people will find us.

HBT took a while to get off the ground. So will this community. New brewers search for fruit and spice beers. Do you have any clue how many people joined because of my CCA recipe? It's not a fantastic beer, but new brewers look for stuff like that. That's why they're pissed I deleted the thread.

It's like the island of lost toys! Anyway, I'll be popping in....Cheese is especially right about the how-to. I would argue that the engineering/science aspect of homebrewing is what draws a lot of us. Look at how many engineers, IT guys, etc. are brewing! See you around
