    Default "Sploding Bottle

So I left town on Sunday, but before I did I bottled a batch on English ale. My wife just sent me a pic of one of he bottles that exploded. I bottled 3 days earlier than normal. I guess haste makes waste. Now I have to talk her into recapping the whole batch b/c I won't be back for a month.
Bottled: Powdered golden strong, Oldgate Stout, HBC WTF Ale, Maibock, Braggot
    Conditioning: Pilsner, Hefeweizen

Only one bombed? maybe it's a fluke. Do you have fridge space to put them someplace colder? (if they're not already and you think that may help, idk).

Just one. So far. I already have a batch of Lager taking all of my free fridge space.

There should be no "normal" time periods when it comes to fermentation. The gravity reading should always, always govern. Bottling without taking a reading is like playing russian roulette. Sometimes it'll work out fine, but once in awhile, it won't be finished, and then you end up with a bullet in the temple (figurative speaking, of course).

I know gravity is the best indicator but excepting this I usually give 2-4 days after last activity, and have never had a problem. This time I had to play roulette though as I was leaving too soon to let sit in the carboy any longer.

You can let it sit in the carboy for a long, long time.

White man speak-a truth. All these time guidelines that so many kit instructions, etc., give you are bollocks. The only reason you'd "need" to get it off the primary cake is if you wanted to re-use that cake. Otherwise, that shit can literally sit on the cake for a few months and be just fine.
