It's very sweet...a nice apertif, but it's difficult drinking one solo. I used champagne yeast to dry it out but it's still very sweet. I drink it on ice in a small glass.

Recipe was 1 gallon of syrup and 4 gallons of water.
Did you hit it with a bunch of yeast nutrient? I'd bet there isn't much in the syrup (similar to honey) that helps the yeast out and maybe still has quite a bit of residual sugars left after the yeast pooped out. What was the OG/FG?

So last night I brought it to an Urban Knaves of Grain meeting thinking i'd enter it in Drunk Monk. I asked severaljudges and all agreed there is no category so I opened a bottle to share. It was a Hit. Some people made funny faces when they heard about it, then tried it and wanted more and wanted to make it. I brought two bombers and emptied one then gave the other to a guy who couldn't quit raving about it. I was asked to return next month with another bottle to share.

It had no negative reviews. I think I became the most popular guy of the night.

You were offering blowjobs along with glasses of it ... so I think that kinda helped.

There's always a catch.

You give yourself too much credit. If you were popular it was only because it was the last alcohol in the room. Note to newbies - dont hoard your brew at club meetings!! Just giving ya sh*t, it was good.

FWIW, I would have entered it in the open mead category, and let the judges sort it out and give you suggestions/advice.
