Default Shitty Year for Hops at MHBC

I dunno, I think it was the combination of the really wet spring/early summer and then really dry july/aug....nothing much did well this year here. Peppers, tomatoes (with the exception of the patio cherries), potatoes, basil...all of it was just weak as fuckin, weak. So I guess I don't feel so bad, it just sucks. The Crystal, especially...it was just huge...it grew like a weed, and was so healthy, and I got maybe a dozen cones off of it. All in all between a crystal and 2 cascades (both 3rd-year vines), I got 1.11 ounces wet. Yeah, it was a joke. The other vines didn't even make a showing. One of the EKG's didn't come back, and the other never got more than 12" tall. The Centennial is a 2nd-year, and it was maybe 2' high at most, and the Mt. Hood got up to about 6' and just stopped. With the amount I got last year, I was expecting a much better harvest, but you can't fuck with mother nature.

Oh well...as brewtus can tell ya, I'm not lacking in the hop dept., so it's not a huge deal, it's just sad to see those vines spend all summer creating 1.1oz of hops. I foodsaved them and I guess they'll go into a brew in the fall as the aroma addition.

I had a great year here. Just finished picking 10 lbs (wet) off my bines. Not a massive haul, but improving over last year's crop fo' sho'.

10 lbs. Christ. Even in a good year, I'd never see that with my 7 lines. Some day, when I have land.

You certainly aren't lacking hops in your stash. Bummer that you got so little out of yours this year though.

I'll be damned if that's not the most blatant euphemism I've ever heard.
