Default Hop Swap

I was going through my stock and realized that I have some last year harvest pellets that I would rather trade out for some different varieties so someone else can brew with them sooner than I would later.

EDIT: I've got nothing to trade for now

Well, I dunno what exactly I'm after, but I do have a bunch of pellets...and pellets don't work so well with my new setup, so I'd be happy to trade pellets for leaf.

I might be down to trade some Tetts for those Simcoe. Need to see how much I have left. Gonna use some in both the Belgian Pale and Tripel I am doing next, but neither one should call for much.

I will also probably be looking for some old ass shit soon for a plambic.

How much you looking at needing for the lambic? I got some hops that are going on two years old. Nice and cheesy yellow. I will have to look and see how much i got total, I was going to use some but probably not more than like and ounce or two.

Recipes usually call for around 3 oz of old hops. If they're cheesy though, they're not good to use.

My question too - I have some Czech Saaz leaf hops that when you shake out of the bag, there is an orange cheesy powder that comes out of the bag as well. They smell fine, so how would one know if they are bad?

If they smell cheesy, then they're just going to impart that funk on your beer. Hops can get old and lose their aa% and aroma, but retain their preservative properties.

The yellow stuff you see in the bag is probably just old lupulin glands from the flowers.
