Default car people help!

I just hooked my uhaul up to my hitch and plugged the electric thing for the lights in and getting NO light!! Any ideas? I suspect it's my truck. Are there any work arounds? How hard is it to replace that thing?

I'd take the trailer back to u-haul and have them test it. I've had times when they gave me a trailer with lights that didn't work.

drive it around the block and see if the lights start working, a lot of the time the ground (ie white wire) doesnt work, and you get a ground from your hitch and it could be a little rusty.

so the part on my truck has 5 wires going to it, but only 3 are actually attached. A red and black one look like they might have been attached before but not anymore

Standard wire colors are White(ground) Green (right turn and stop), Yellow (Left turn and stop) Brown (tail lights)

If you have a multimeter or 12v test light, you could test the 4-way flat connector leaving your truck. You should have 12V when each of the functions are activated on the respective wire.
