Beer
|
So I bottled my 999's a few days ago. I added just under 3/4 cup of table sugar. The beer is over a year old and was down to 1.008. I'm packing the bottles up now for my move to FL and noticing some serious activity in each bottle.... like a friggin krausen. Please tell me this thing is gonna drop more than a point or two in the bottle. How many points can it drop before I should expect explosions?

i dont think you have anything to worry about. after a year i would think it would be safe to assume the beer had reached its absolute FG. you added the right amount of sugar. all though table sugar isn't as fermentable as corn sugar (i think). assuming you keep the bottles in temps below 80F i wouldn't think they would of done any super fermentation. as long as the caps arent starting to dome you should be ok. if your worried uncap the bottles to relive the pressure and recap.

You'd better just drink them before they all explode and all is lost!

I think it's cool now. I popped one open and it made a verrrry slight hiss and was lightly carbed. They should carb up just fine I suspect.
