The short of it: Troopers confiscated $7200 of commercial beer in a raid because the names registered on the PLCB rolls didn't match the actual names. Included were Monk's Cafe Sour Flemish Red Ale (erroneously listed as Monk's Cafe Ale) and Duvel Belgian Golden Ale (listed by the PLCB as Duvel Beer), among others. Also, Russian River didn't register Pliny the Younger when kegs came into Philly. Oops. ![]() PA's draconian laws. Ugh. ![]() |

I've hesitated posting about this because it goes much deeper...1) most likely someone else in the bar biz tipped off the PALCB and 2) well, the first rule of fight club is you don't talk about fight club
![]() But, PtY is still pouring at the Bishop's collar and will be at the Blue Dog soon. |

Even though they are 'competitors' in the strictest sense of the word, they're better served by collaborating. |

There's a whole hierarchy of who can get what when it comes to really hard to get brews...which has pissed off some of the establishments that can't pull much weight with the wholesale distros. IIRC, this all started out on a phily blog site where some anonymous poster basically threatened to rat resurection/Local 44/memphis for serving unlisted brands...total inside baseball in that context if you know what I mean. Way to try and ruin it for all of us ya dick. |

I'm not as connected to the Philly beer scene as I once was (when I lived a bit closer), but I can say that some of my locals have pooled together to get a bigger piece of the pie from the wholesalers (again, there's that co-op thing!).
It'll come to light who squealed and their business will be flushed down the tubes. Mark my words. |
