Well, I signed up for a dummy account over at HBT, not to hang out, or PM people to recruit for this board or anything but just to see if there were any brewers/brewshops in my new town. I mean shit, they have 20000 brewers signed up to the forum, it's really the best way to find if someone is brewing near you. Well, I made up a new screen name and signed my introduction message as "Kevin." There is absolutely no way anyone at HBT would know it was me unless they came over here and read the "Red Zone" message that BeerBilly put up and saw that I posted that. Only registered members can read that forum. Anyway, that dummy account just got banned!!! New computer, new internet, everything. No other way they could've known it was me.
So, who are ya? Be a man, show yourself. I promise I won't ban you.

Theres a certain amount of hilarity to this whole situation. To me a homebrew forum should be for uniting brewers being that we make up such a small group. To help eachother out, and to just talk beer. It seemed obvious to me that you were strictly there to meet locals and find out about the local scene. What is wrong with that?, it's not like you were stirring shit up. But would it really surprise you to hear that someone has done the same thing to your site? Just to read the HBT related threads? Not me. What is really important is the beer. Right? What a joke.
EDIT: Hey Flan, there is a guy over there from your neck of the woods, Duderino I think it was, maybe you should get with him.

No yet marzen, I'm going to though. I'll be getting a dorm room down in Syracuse so I don't have drive back and forth every day of the week for school. Hopefully I get in with the guys down there.
That's pretty lame.
I'm sure there are several people that keep an eye on what gets said here. You had to half-way expect to get banned announcing the new account - even in a "private" area. Probably would have been best to keep quiet about it.

Yea, I know, but I knew that when I said it. I was wanting to find out if they were registered and reading down there.

Do it! There's a ton of brewers over there. That's why I did it. I could care less about the "community" they say they have. Just doing some networking and it's a great resource for that.
That's bullshit Flan. I still visit over there because I shelled out for lifetime a year ago, and would hate to see it go to waste, but I only usually post in threads that are non-brewing related. At this point I don't really have anything to offer brewing-wise and when I do I'll be posting it HERE. (Wait, have I ever had anything to say worthwhile that has been brewing related? ) I prefer the company. (And this summer will be different) However, I've noticed a lot of the "old timers" from H*B*T* don't post much anymore as well. I've said it before, the place just isn't the same because it's gotten TOO big. A year or so ago people there use to bash the greenboard because it was so E*A*C*... In my humble opinion a certain other board has gone the same way. Which is a damn shame, because there are still some good people there, and a lot of good people that helped build a community that just isn't what it was.
And if I end up bannified over there for this post, then there definitely IS someone that shouldn't be here.
Posting while drinking. :x

They don't realize there are limitless proxy sites out there. I stopped though. i really am pretty damn drunk tonight, so I had some fun... FYI, they moved the thread out of recipes and probably to the "secret" forum.

I wonder how much trouble they can get it with this in their Rules:

This means that they take ownership of copyrighted material.
But then again, they also try to shirk responsibility:
