Wednesday's brew

Brewed a wheat beer today!Perfect Water Wheat beer.Started out 25degrees and an inch or two fresh snow,had to fuss with a frozen garden hose.Anyway,tried out some of those compressed flower hops(1/4 lb bricks)from Kraus.Holy crap what a mess! Busted up a full brick in the first wort and having always used pellets i wasn't prepared for the expansion,that was a lot of hop matter.At the end i had a fuck of a time draining/straining the keggle into buckets,the shit kept clogging up the spigot.
So my lesson learned was to definitely use a hop bag or something similar.Also kegged the 9 week old(3 weeks primary/6 weeks cold lagering)blonde lager....tasted awesome....gonna try to wait another month till we get into that.

I've yet to use anything other than pellets.

Just realized that we went over 100 gals on the year with this one....on a pace for 4...i mean 200 gals exactly :mrgreen: .

Good save. I believe HomeBrewChatter is under constant ATF surveillance. Or would it be the IRS?

Does anyone know what the penatly is for overbrewing?

I am really kicking myself for not doing any lagers this winter we had the perfect weather for it. Oh well time to get the boys of summer lined up.....my buddies, Hefe, Saison, and HORA are all on deck.

WE lagered and drank lager all winter.Perfect conditions in the unheated garage....20-40 degrees for the last 4-5months.I got no problem with those temp swings,gotta love my lagers!
