View Full Version : Hello from KY
Hey guys I'm Ryan and live in Glasgow, KY. I have been doing some kit beers and I am now here trying to learn more. I hope to learn to do an all grain beer very soon, so if any of you live in KY or Northern TN and want to take me under your wing I would greatly appreciate it.

Welcome Ryan! Ask all the questions you want - We have a really good group of people here that are always willing to help. And the only stupid question is the one that is not asked. We all started at where you are and are all still learning.

Welcome Murl from your neighbor to the North. Good to have you here.
Thanks for the warm welcome. I have had a blast asking questions on this forum, and everyone is so eager to help. Hopefully one day I can return the favor.
WOP31 I have flown to Bloomingon before, I had to drop a lady off there one night. I didn't see anything other than the airport then the city below.

Yeah it's not a huge town, we do have IU here so all the college kids make up a good portion of the population. It is just about the perfect size town for me though, I am not a big city guy at all.
I lived in the country when I was young, now my wife and I plan to move to Louisville, KY in June.

What's up man. I'm in Lexington but I am from Louisville and go visit every once and a while. I'll be moving back in a year or 2 probably.
That's sweet, you live about 2hrs from me. I just interviewed at UK's dental school, I was there in October. We should get together and brew sometime.

So, in other words, it's "common" for you to brew on weekends?

Hey man welcome to the forum! I'm not there right now, but my permanent home is in Louisville, KY.
All Grain is really easy bro. Once you get started and figure out the procedures its nothing to worry about at all. I remember after I did my first AG brew, I asked myself... ''is that all?''. Anyway, lots of good guys on here. If you need any help just ask and someone here will give ya a hand. Again, welcome to the forum bro, its always good to see new faces on here.

Welcome from another Kentuckian. If you ever have occasion to come to Cincinnati, look me up.

Hi Murl, I thought I saw somewhere that you didn't have a HB store near you. Whenever you get to Cinci, you might try looking for Listermann Brewery. It's a great little place, near the Xavier campus, just off Dana. You can google it to find out where it is. Prices in the store are cheaper than on-line, but then you have to add Ohio tax of 6.5%, which brings it close. Example: 33 lbs bulk Briess LME is $70 on-line, but $60+tax in the store. I've bought just about everything from there except for hops. I've got 8 lbs shipping in from HopsDirect. Once I get them, I'll have everything new again: LME, grains, hops, IM and sanitizer.
