If I had to choose between that and OB's brewfest...I'd choose the latter. I really wanna do an AHA, but fuckin minneapolis means an airplane, which means a big PITA. I think the next AHA I'll be at will be the next one that's within driving distance.

Well there's certainly a lot more to do and see at NHC, but you don't get to brew, drink an assload of great beers (especially the secret beer that I'm brewing for Beerfest '10) in a small group or have a 50# spread of pork, chicken and beef for dinner after a round of golf in the morning. :D
The two are totally different experiences, obviously. I would LOVE to go to NHC again this year, but it fills up so fast that I doubt I'll have the scratch saved up to be able to do it before it's too late. If you want to experience the awesomeness that is Club Night with hundreds of homebrews available or the seminars, pro brewer night, or just the thrill of meeting people like Papazian, Strong, JZ, Ray Daniels, etc... then you owe it to yourself to get to NHC sometime.
If you want to brew and drink in a much smaller setting with a bunch of douches that you already know, then Beerfest is the place for you. :D
Honestly, if I had never been to either I'd pick NHC. Obviously if I could afford it, I'd do both every year. But damn... even when it was in Cincy (2.5 hour drive for me), we still had almost $1k in the weekend by the time that we registered for the conference, hotel, meals, etc. Drive up to OH for Beerfest '10 and all you're out is gas money and $20 for a round of golf plus whatever beer you choose to bring with you.
Even if I had the money, this year is like a 14 hour drive for me and that's really pushing it.

Well, like I said, Brewfest ought-ten is within driving distance. NHC is not. Flying anywhere with Reid is pretty much an impossibility right now. I'm really hoping they bring it back to the mid-atlantic in '11, though. I really REALLY want to go to one. I had planned on Cincy, but then we went to France and spent a few grand and I couldn't justify spending another grand there a couple months later. Then, I had pretty much convinced the wife to come to Oakland with me for '09, because we both love San Fran, and we have family out in Tiburon...then, well, going off the pill worked quicker than either of us expected, and that was out. Now...Minneapolis? Nah. Next one within driving distance, I'm there. C'mon DC 2011!!! :D

Due to the financial issue I may not go to the NHC in 2010 either but I could always make the drive to Brewfest (HINT HINT)

There was talk of Philadelphia or DC for 2011 - either way, I'm there.

I would really like to go. Last year I couldn't make it due to the upcoming birth of number two...this year is out of the question. Bring on the Mid-Atlantic in '10.

If it's Mid-Atlantic region next year as I suspect, I'm all over it. For 2010, I guess I'll just have to settle for Beerfest '10.

I think you have to go with whichever option gives you the best chance to see WOP's Samba Classics again.

You're pretty hung up on my Samba's. A hint of jealousy perhaps? Have you always wanted a pair, but your parents would never get them for you? Perhaps they were your one childhood dream that to this day remains unfulfilled, was it to own a pair of sambas so you could be like a real soccer star? I think that there could be some deep seeded repressed childhood angst here, that we may need to discuss at further detail. Tell me about your childhood, did you feel your father never loved you, did he not tell you he was proud of you? Don't worry together we can work though this.

Going to try my best to make it, but who knows what next year brings. A job is necessary before all that hub-bub.

Your response lacks originality and cleverness but you may be onto something. I remember loving the hell out of those shoes back then. Got me a pair and felt like I was king of the mall. Then the fuckers started hurting my feet so badly that I couldnt wear them anymore so I had to go back to my then out of style Bo Jacksons. Maybe I am jealous.
