Hello

I have a problem... huge problem.

My malt have worms and then metamorphose and leave moths.

no longer serves my malt??

How much malt are we talking about here? If I were you, I'd get rid of any malt that is infested, then get some sealable buckets or whatever the equivalent of a rubbermaid container is down in the Michoacan to store your malt in from now on.

Are like 20kg of a sack 50kg.

I let the malt in the sun on the floor, and many worms comes out, the ants began to hunt them, I was so happy ... :)

i will move the malt to other room and look for bucket or something.

and the boil should cook them. I would think the little parboiled bodies would drop out in the trub.

On the other hand, you might get worm protein haze. ;)

And running the grain & worms through your Corona could be messy

Can improve the head retention?? :D

I remember my grandma, always took out his corn, beans, etc. to sun, and gave them a few turns. Tha way, grains was preserved for whole year. I will try again.

Well now guys, let's not be so hasty. I would put the malt in a large plastic garbage bag and fill it with CO2 from a tank if you have one or can borrow one. That should suffocate the bugs/worms. So long as the infestation is not too severe, you may still be able to use the malt. That's a call only you can make. You could also place the malt in a freezer and kill them that way. Might take a couple of days to do it that way if you have a large bag of grain. Once you get rid of the insects, keep the malt well sealed up in a plastic bag or bucket. I don't know how effective the sun drying method would be. The local birds might eat it all if you aren't watching it all the time.

maybe birds can eat it, but better i will place the malt in frezzer and then to sun. I do not know what could happend with moisture inside. But.... if it not works, i do not care about that. Just i will have more atention in the new malt.
And by that reason i have doing mashes in weekends to use it before my malt no longer serves.

I'd brew with the malt the boil will sterilize. Besides it woulden't be the only mexican beverage that had worms in it!:D

I don't think yours will be the first beer made wiith worms. I would guess maybe a few million came before you. Beer has been around a very long time. Thre freezer should kill them and that was a good idea.

Instead of testing it like the story with Tequila, you can make up some new legend :D

Don't worry about the worms for now, it's probably not going to significantly impact the flavor. You could try to cook one up and eat it (it's not going to harm you to eat one I don't think) to see if they taste real bad. If you can halt them by freezing them that would be good for now. For future malt, get a nice sealed container. The problem may be that the worm eggs may actually be in the malt already before you buy it! If that is the case, you have to keep it cool enough that they don't hatch.
