Got this in an email today. It's going to be a good beer week.

Dude, that Lucifer is an intense beverage. Also, meet the head brewer of Chimay? That's gonna be badass and I'm a HUGE fan of Chimay cheeses.

Heinz57, do you go to the Pasadena or Sierra Madre bar?
My girl and I went to the Sierra Madre one a few months ago, for the Belgian Festival. There were a few I wanted to try, and after those I just let the bartender pick a few more out for me. (He clearly knew a lot more about Belgians than I did!) The food was really quite decent as well.
Impressive place, I wish it wasn't such a drive for me.

I always go to the Pasadena location. It's closer for me (~15 min on my bike) & I've gotten to know a few of the waitstaff, so I get a few bucks off here and there.
I've never been to the Sierra Madre location, but I hear they're nearly identical in terms of selection and service. I always order the English chicken curry or the fish and chips. The Pasadena bar acquired a new chef a few months back, and the food really improved since the addition.
The beer selection doesn't rotate much during non festival times, but the festivals are great. If you go there enough, they'll usually give a $1-2 discount in any prior festival glass, depending on the beer.
I'm psyched about Friday, mainly for the cheese. :D

I used to think Chimay was just a type of cheese, had no idea it was a beer. My brother and I would pick some up on occasion. Was actually the first artisan cheese I ever had and fell in love with it quickly.

Nice. I didn't know they made cheese. I missed the last brewer they had visit, the guy from Achouffe, but apparently the owner was hammered and it was hilarious. Pissed I missed it.
Not Friday, I'll be there for sure!
