I'm enjoying myself a nice big oatmeal stout for breakfast and listening to some Paul Brady on the ol' IPOD.

Cheers!

I hate Hallmark holidays but MAN! I love Budweiser holidays.

My only wish is that I had some homebrew ready to drink.

My beer supply took a MAJOR hit over the weekend, so I have nothing carbed up. I'll have to have something commercial

I think it had been hit pretty hard prior to Friday night. It didn't last into the first round of the draft!

Thanks for hosting.

I brewed up a big, sweet chocolate oatmeal stout a couple weeks back just for today. It is GOOOD. I might like it more than my standard. Only real difference is the use of oatmeal instead of flaked barley, but it is GOOOOOOOD. I can't stress that enough.

Making cornbeef and cabbage for dinner YUMMMMM!

I'm brewing today. A nice dark porter. And why oh why can I not find anything green to wear today?

Well, howdy, Denny! Welcome to the forum and happy st patty's! I nice dark porter sounds like a good brew for the "holiday."

I have a tight green shirt that really isn't very flattering but says "You can always tell an irishman, but you can't tell him much." It's got some holes in it. I bought it 30 pounds ago....

Well, the IPA was fairly full. The Porter was on it's last leg. I need to add a couple more taps. I had a few on deck, but nowhere to hook them up!

Between Saturday night and last night, my supply has been decimated.

Dry Irish Stout = gone
Last of the Hefe...gone
Nut Brown 1 bottle left
Dark Amber 1 bottle left

All weekend, I had only 1 stout and drank commercial brew so that my guests could have the homebrew.

I really don't know how I did not go to jail for at least a PI. The cop took the other guy to jail. But I got blind sided, so I guess thats why I did not go.

No shit...I woulda had your back! Been a while since I beat someone down. Used to bounce at a pretty rough club. I never start fights but I have a pretty good record at ending them.

I was celebrating solo because all of my friends and SWMBO are sucking rubber in a military exercise this week.

I went all out though--I had a corned beef brisket and veggies (cabbage, taters, carrots) simmering for most of the day. it turned out so friggin awesome.

I also bought a sixxer of Guinness and it was a blast. Oh, and no brawls for me. ;)

I guess the one positive I have going for me is my size - 6'2"+ tall and 250 pounds of muscle and fat. People generally don't want to find out what's muscle and what's fat. It's a lot of both. I'm not very much in shape, but if you're not a trained fighter you probably don't want to mess with me. I know how to use my weight and being that in high school I was very good friend with the Karate team (including an olympian level fighter) I not only know how to block and hit but I know how to anticipate a hit and guard against it. Those guys I was friends with in high school REALLY liked the old "punch you in the balls" game so I had to learn a little defense.

Well the story goes, we where leaving the bar and my friend was talking to some chick and turns out she had some B/f that did not like that. He started getting into it with my friend while, a few of the other guys friends showed up. They started throwing a few punches before I was trying to break them up.. Im holding my buddy while some coward comes from the right side and decks me. The coward then proceeds to run, but not before a DPD officer that had been driving up, goes and lays him out. We had a long talk with the cops, and the guy that hit me was the only one that ended up going to jail. Which is pretty awesome because I was shit house drunk. I think it was the fact that I was being as nice as I could be and the other group of dudes where being jack asses. I figured I was getting a PI at least. But we got in the Taxi and got our happy asses home.

I'm in the same boat. I rarely have anyone mess with me because of my size and I know how to fight well enough to defend myself, but not well enough to want to do it. I also have no problem with fighting dirty right from the word go. I don't want to get hit in the face and I don't want my shirt ripped. The quicker I can end it, the better.

It's definitely almost as cheesy as it sounds, but I got a black belt in Tai Kwon Do around the age of 13. I'll surely never use a running jump side kick in a fight, but I have to say, some of the defenses and reflex skills learned at that age are with me for life.... It's also a nice party trick to whip out the nunchucks and flip around like a mo-fakka.

And, yea, I'm a pretty big dude as well. 6' 220lb, so I got that going for me.

I did the same thing I think I was about 13 too, Tae Kwon Do, Chung Do Kwan. Really teh only thing that has stuck with me was teh whole "breaking Holds" and knife defence which honestly is pretty nice to know.

Out and about, folks are generally nice to me and I am nice in return...I like it that way.

Course, I have been randomly asked "when did you get out of prison?" before....
