Each type of hop has been called better than any other type. Really there is little difference between what you will get from using each form of hops. Pellets make a bigger mess, but whole leaf are a pain to get out of a carboy or BB, Whole leaf absorbs more water, but you lose liquid to trub from pellet also.... There is very little difference in flavor or aroma with the exception being whole leaf does do SLIGHTLY better for dry hopping as the cone has been less processed. Whole leaf hops do not store as well or last as long.

I can't tell the difference in a beer made with pellets v. whole leaf... ever.

Eh, I can tell the difference in my APA but it may just be that the whole leaf were mistreated/stored.

You can fit a lot more pellets in the freezer. Ease of storage is why I use pellets over leaf.

I like leaf and I'll admit why: pellets remind me of mexican schwag. Not that they taste like crap, but because a half-ounce can be the size of a pencil eraser. I've never had a problem with the taste though. I love both, but I just like the unprocessed leaf hops better.

Can't get a nickel bag of amarillo pellets though... I don't think. If you can, let me know.

I like pellets a lot better, but only have whole hops right now, they are a PITA.

i went whole leaf on my first batch, and IIRC on my second batch too, and i think it might be my LHBS, and if you live in orlando, you know who and what i am talking about, but i never feel the "whole hops" are fresh. there for i go for the pellets. they are a bitch to filter out, and a big pain in the ass to filter out of secondary, but for some reason i feel like they are more "fresh" in pellet from, which is why i use them. since i have "switched" over, i have felt more better in the "quality." anyone feel me on his? basically, it's all about what you feel comfortable with using. i feel comfortable using pellets, but i've heard whole leafs are good too, especially for aroma and flame out, and secondary. everytime i use whole leaf, they are brown in appearence, and that makes me feel like i am hendering myself, and more importantly my brew...that could also be becuase my first brew was a kit brew.........also, i'm pretty drunk at this point, so maybe i shouldn't be posting in my condition...just something ya'll should take into consideration...
