So the landlord came by today to fix the washing machine and I was able to talk him out of a couple of 3' connector cables. So I took the plastic insert out of one of them and traded it out for the 1' metal braid I have been using. Should make things easier to drain, but does anyone know of any unforeseen problems having a longer metal braid may cause?

I can't think of anything. So, there's some valuable input :x

Just watch it to keep it from floating up. Also it will be easier to hit with your paddle while stirring if you batch sparge. But more area will make make a faster sparge for you.

No problems that i can think of having a bigger pick up, As long as it is Stainless Steel, if not that shit will rust in a heart beat.

Anything over about 12" or so and you will not see any increase. As stated though, make sure to wire tie some SS washers on the braid to keep it from floating up. I think it is going to be more of a PITA than anything but I hope I am wrong.

hmm. you are making perfect sense there satyr. that seems very obvious now that you point it out, but I just wasnt thinking about that...i didnt throw away the footer and can easily reattach it. could just cut this new one into a couple of sections for future use. thanks!
