...and I open the fridge to grab a beer when I notice a six-pack in there with the words "Homebrew" hand-written. So I ask around and find out that two of my friends (actually they're second-degree friends with whom I've always gotten along very well, and only one of them was at the party) are now brewing. So excitedly we talk, I try one of the IPA's he brought (Amarillo / Magnum) and it's absolutely delicious.
I get some new brewing friends! We re-swapped e-mail addresses (since I don't usually talk to them outside of social events at Gary's place) and we're trying to set up a group-brew on Sunday.
They jumped straight into all-grain so they still need some mentoring. I can tell they have the bug. Can't wait to introduce them to my gear and techniques I've learned and see what they can show me. Best part is that my wife likes these guys so she's "allowing" me to brew with them so I might get to brew more often. Yippee Skippy!!! Not that she doesn't like my other brew friends, but she's known these guys for a long time and knows more about them than my brew friends I've met online.

Awesome!
I have a "show a friend how to brew" thing coming up where he is picking the style and some recipe elements, we are going to tool something up and then brew it. I am looking forward to bringing another potential homebrewer into the fold.

No kidding! I move around so much I don't seem to have any friends that I see regularly. I was lucky enough to meet mdd and DS, but now I'm about to move off again! I'm really hoping I get into a grad school. Should work wonders for my social life.

I should also mention that the guy who I talked to is also one of the only men I've ever slept with.
And when I say that I'm talking in reference to our friend's bachelor party. We had a hard time getting hotel rooms so many of us ended up having to go 2 to a bed. We all slept fully clothed and no one ended up touching (at least we didn't). I have to say, even though I haven't slept with many guys, he's one I'd sleep with again. No snoring, no rolling around, no farting. Meanwhile the guys in the other bed (best man / groomsmen) ended up not so lucky. Best man got FACED those nights. SHITFACED.

We all quoted that movie about a million times after discovering we'd have to either bunk-up or be in three different motels 10 miles apart.

Yea, it helps break the ice when you know it's happening.

I never stated that it was my most hetero moment. Actually, it's a shame that we're not gay: how cool would it be to date a brewing guy? No kids, double the brew gear, and brew-house sex. Sometimes being straight has its disadvantages.

brewhouse sex. Never thought about that before. I'd worry about wild yeast.
Wow, who would have thunk something NOT gay could happen at an Oscar party?
