SO I fucked up. I poured my beer into a fermenter that may have had .5 gallon of star san in it!. Its fermenting away but it has a bubbly head to it! I am assuming I just throw it out. Any other options? Beer soap?

Dont brew while sick!

Wait it out and see what it tastes like, no sense in dumping it without at least giving it a shot at life first.

That sucks dude, at least we can hope that you won't ever make that mistake again.

Don't fear the foam... even if it's in a half gallon of water?

+1 on waiting, seeing how it turns out. If it's drinkable, it will be symbolic of how hard it is to screw up beer, and we can use this example to anyone who thinks he ruined his batch.

Sorry to hear that this happened though, I really hope it ends up ok for you.

Thanks for the encouragement. I am keeping it tried a sample and it tastes ok so well see. Star san looses its efficacy after time right?

I just read a thread about someone who works for 5-star dumping 1 gallon of star san in a 5 gal batch to prove a point that it wouldn't ruin the beer.Other than a slight tangy taste it was stated that it tasted fine.Maybe all is not lost for you.I'll see if I can find that thread.

+1. IIRC, the beer should be fine, other than the gravity change. The Star-San guys say this stuff does degrade over time in beer.

from a podcast with the head of 5-star, after starsan is diluted from normal work solution, i.e. in to your septic tank/diluted in a bottle the starsan goes from killing stuff, to yeast food.

As long as you got the ph up enough it will just feed the yeast. Dont know what it will do to the flavor, but it should not be bad, i know it wount be bad for you.

That is good news - Guess what you didn't Eff Up your beer. Unfortunately, you proved a point that Revtard has been saying for a long time - You can't really fuck up beer.
