View Full Version : Distribution
Ok, maybe I'm being spectacularly thick. (Not the 1st time) I'm not kegging, but gathering parts, and some of you may remember I scored a nice draught box etc. last fall. I just took the lines off the regulator and distributor and got 2 thinking... I'm only going to be running 2 kegs at a time. I'd like to keep the distributor attached for the option of running 4 kegs, but what do I do with the empty 2 ports? Cap em? Put valves on em? (my first choice)
Old Jubilation is good, so I'm a little slow this evening, but any input is duly appreciated...

are those threaded or barbed?
If they are threaded you could cap them or get some valves.
how big is your fridge that you have, if you have room for more then 2 kegs and plan on expanding I would just get 2 more ball lock gas side hookups and go ahead and plumb them in. The keg hook ups have a pin valve so should not leak if they are not on a keg.
They're threaded. This was a complete soda draft box system that I came across with all the threaded lines and the pin lock valves still attached. (4 lines) Could I buy some ball lock valves and attach them to the lines and leave them without worrying aboout them leaking and not worry about shutoff valves? I'm going to go with a smaller fridge that'll accomodate 3 kegs at most, but I'm only going to run 2 active taps.

I would add valves to em, just cause. They aren't that expensive and it would give you more control and you can expand when you want.

Just what I thought O'F. But where to find said valves? Farm supply? Because Lowes didn't have anything that small...

Hmm, didn't think about that. They are real small, eh? Might try a plumbing supplier.

I leave mine off all the time, with no leaks.
but yeah valves are not but about 7 bucks.
I was just looking at my lowes and I seen some 1/4" are they any smaller then that?
If lowes does not have them then try a plumbing store farm supply

I'd go with the caps, there cheap and you can always remove them later plus they will never leak if installed right and you can never bump it and turn it on!

Mcmaster has the ball valves you need.
Excellent, thanks guys! Since I'm a little more sober this evening, the lines have all the MFL connectors attached, so I think I'll get some MFL ball lock disconnects for the lines to replace the pin lock ones that I got with them. I'd still like to be able to shut off each line individually, so I'll check out locally for the valves, but if all else fails, thanks A LOT for the McMasters heads up MM. :x

I bought all of the parts for my manifold from McMaster, I don't have the part #'s for the ball valves though.

And I put a ball lock post on the outside so I can disconnect the Co2...

Wow that is very clean looking, and I love the ball lock disconnect.
do you have an idea of the price for all the fittings?

It's been about 3 years since I built it so I'm not sure what the cost would be.
3 words, "friends are GOOD". I have a buddy who works in an industry that utilizes a variety of gasses. He took my reg with him, replaced the top guage with a 60 lber, lubed up the regulator adjustement, and slapped caps on all 5 ports. (turns out there's one on the bottom of the post as well.) He's also going to help me out with building the keggerator.
Now I just gotta get the kegs!
Thanks again for all the info gang!
