Hey guys,

I just want to announce that I have started selling weldless fittings for just about any need at my site WeldlessFittings.com (http://weldlessfittings.com).

I started this out of a need for them on my own personal brewery, so after researching suppliers and parts, I have come up with tested, quality products and what I believe are the best prices you'll find. I've sold quite a few kits already, and have heard only great reviews. I include detailed instructions with every kit, and most orders ship for $4.95 (really as much as I can fit in a flat rate box).

So swing by, check out what I have, and thanks for reading this!

Just kidding, thanks for the heads up dave.

Dave, do the stainless nuts on your site have a groove machined into the face, to accommodate an o-ring?

Dave, do the stainless nuts on your site have a groove machined into the face, to accommodate an o-ring?

You bet! That's one of the key features to my kits. That groove holds the o-ring and really prevents accidental over-tightening.

Hey Dave, welcome.:)

Why is it that the locknuts cost so much? I've been looking for some, but it would be cheaper for me to cut the end off a bushing.

Also, this thread, or a new thread should be started in the buy/sell section.

I don't know why they are so much, but they are. You can find cheaper stainless ones, but they won't have the groove in one side, which I feel is quite important to the kit. These are heavy hunks of stainless...

Yeah, I really don't need the groove, I use gasket instead of o-rings.

ok, So I promised Dave a review, so here goes.

[Start of Review]After making my All Grain system, I had gone through several other vendors products in search of a decent Sight Tube setup. My most recent one was purchased from Weld-B-Gone. The Thermosight Combination Sight and Fitting setup. After initial installation I tested it out and it was leaking like crazy. I dealt with it until I saw Dave's setup at Weldlessfittings.com - I bought two and followed the easy instructions and have been using them both successfully for about a month now. No more leaking and it makes it a boat load easier to get to my boil amount without sticking my measuring spoon in the wort.

Thanks Dave! They Rock!![/End of Review]

Edit it if you need to Dave

davebl,

I recently ordered some fittings from your website and I'm looking forward to completing my keggle. I'll let you know how they work out!!

I plan on using a 7/8" hole saw to drill the hole. Have you had any problems with doing this? You mention using a step bit, but I don't own one and don't really want to buy one...kinda pricy!

Thanks,

I use a hole saw on mine, no problems. The nice thing about a step bit is they de-burr as you drill.

Brewmeister,

If you can find a Harbor Freight (http://www.harborfreight.com/) around you they have step bits (http://search.harborfreight.com/cpisearch/web/search.do?keyword=step+bit&Submit=Go) that are priced pretty low, and the bits work just as well as the more expensive ones.

Welcome to the site BTW, Cheers!

Since 95% of my orders actually do ship for $4.95, I decided to go ahead and make it a standard flat-rate option for every order.

How many fender washers do you have on the outside? With the cooler conversions I've done, I had to just keep adding them (between 2 and 4) until I could tighten the assembly up.

Product Review

davebl sent me some fittings for a new mash tun and it really made my day because I've been in desperate need for an upgrade. What came in the package was what I told him I needed, the pieces to turn a Coleman XTreme into an MLT. What I didn't mention was that I got was the standard Coleman XTreme's retarded brother with wheels. This thing has the spigot in the back/bottom of the cooler and it puts it on a weird 45 degree angle. DON'T get this cooler, it will save you a lot of trouble.

But, what's great about dave's package is I was still able to make it work even with this defunct cooler. I had to tighten up a bit and catch a really small leak into a bowl, but that's sealed up thanks to a bit of sugar water. I'm brewing right now, as I write this, and am blown away with the flow I'm getting out of this thing. I have never had as wonderful a run off as I'm getting today on this weizenbock I'm brewing. I highly recommend dave's fitting sets for the MLT. I, who suck at DIY, am able to make a function MLT that is getting excellent run off. The pieces all fit together just right and the instruction manuel is clearly written. It saves me having to run back and forth to Lowe's because I got something in the wrong size, or having to mail off for a small piece that Lowe's or HD just doesn't carry. It all comes together in a great little package.

Thanks again dave and feel free to use this review anywhere you'd like. I still owe you a video, but it may be a bit before I get it all edited down.

Dave, do you make custom dip tubes? I have a nice more beer kettle and I want to set it up for a whirlpool. I only have one full coupler and one half coupler, and don't really want to drill. I was thinking of drilling a swaglock and feeding a 1/2" tube threw the fitting and mounting it in the half coupler. Any thoughts on this?

I have a 0.5" OD stainless stock and can bend up anything you need.

I don't really understand what you're doing with the couplers. You have a half and a full coupling mounted in the kettle, the half on the outside, and you want the dip tube to pass through the swage and into the kettle?

How would you be able to attach a valve for the dip tube? Use another swagelok on the tube itself?

mr x
11-14-2009, 09:45 AM
Your best bet would be to go with a 1/2"T x 1/2"NPT on the end of the tube, and then use a 1/2" ball valve there. A 1/2" swagelok valve will be expensive/heavy/unnecessary. Also if you use SS ferrules, that tube won't be removable.

sanders5x
11-14-2009, 01:37 PM
What are VCR end connections?

Also, is it a common practice to drill a swagelok out so a tube can pass threw the connector?

mr x
11-14-2009, 02:52 PM
Don't understand the VCR question.

I'm positive Swagelok doesn't sell them like that, but it's a common practice. Works well. You'll need a solid drill press and vice for 1/2" tubing.

Just a quick update

I now have electric element kits (a locknut and an o-ring) for those wanting to add elements to their boil kettle

Also started stocking some tri-clamp fittings, hope to get more offerings soon.

And we have a customer gallery! I have been wanting to do this for a while, and finally got it laid out and working the way I want it to. So for those of you who have ordered products from me (PC, UB, Red, BLL, etc) feel free to email me some pics of your setup and I'll get them posted.

I think it works like a regular compression fitting so the concave side goes toward the kettle wall and the convex side away from the kettle wall if I'm not mistaken

JXLT

It should only screw down in one direction and the dip tube will be loose enough you can pull it out completely until it's tightened down

The cone shaped ferrule goes in first, then the smaller ring sits on top, the the cap. Hand tighten the cap as much as you can, then go an additional 1.25 turns with a wrench.
