Anybody else see this? This was probably one of the most painful to watch, awkward interviews I've ever seen. He has to be on drugs. Some people think it's a hoax. He's a good actor, but it's hard to believe that this is the same guy.
Dave was really in fine form though. "Joaquin I'm sorry you couldn't be here tonight." "Tell me about your time with the Unabomber." "I'll come to your house and chew gum."

Here's the full clip, for those who want to watch longer, more awkward pauses.

Painful ass interview, watched it yesterday. I don't think the guy is on drugs so much as he's convinced himself he's a true artist. He probably is doing the interview because he feels he "has to" or something but he's trying to prove that he doesn't want to be there at the same time.
Or he may be on acid or mescaline.
I think he's pulling a J-Roc (a TPB episode where Detroit Velvet Smooth tells him he needs to do time to be taken serious in the rap game). Looks like he's trying to score some creds for his new rap scheme by acting the part. Just odd in general.:crack:

I guess he's doing a movie about Hollywood pretty much making fun of everyone. It's about how people think cause there movie stars they can sing. And in his case he went extreme and is now a "hip hop" guy. The movie is coming out i think this year and now I'm interested in seeing it. I like how he stays in character very Andy Kaufman like. He's a smart guy who saw his bro die due to drugs i can almost garauntee he's faking this. Ill see if i can track down a link.

Shenanigans.... you made me look at and listen to Casey Affleck. Even if it was only for a few seconds, it was a horrible thing to do.
It's worse than being Rick Rolled.
I'm not sure if I can forgive you for this... I am going to need some time.

Damn. That sucks. You can tell Letterman was trying. He was being professional about his job and was trying to get him to talk and be part of the show. He even complements him, and tries time after time to get him to have a decent conversation with him.
Pheonix was being a quiet dickhead though. Either that or he was very stoned.. Being on Letterman would be a great honor with lots of publicity. He had to screw around though and look like a jackass on national TV.

Yeah, Dave was trying his best to get Phoenix out of his coma, but when nothing worked, Dave had no choice but to side with the audience and start mocking him.

About the only thing he did there was set it up so Dave could knock em out of the park.... Second hand, I've heard that JP gets way out in left field, deep.
Hope he either reels it in or that was all a big joke on Hollywood.

I'm really questioning the idea that this could be a hoax. I'd expect some C to B list actor to pull this kind of stunt, but Phoenix is generally thought of as a highly talented actor. This just doesn't seem like something he'd want to blow his reputation on. Who knows though. I mean, it couldn't be worse than his wannabe rap career.

Someone needs to stop him before he gets too serious about his hop hop career. I don't see that taking off very well. He just needs to stay with acting.
