I am about 10gm short of EKG for Flan's Stout tomorrow, and the LHBS didn't have any either. Should I just go without or use something else? I have been cleaning up the bits and pieces, and all I have is:

Simcoe
Cascade
Amariallo
Galaxy

The EKG are for bittering only, and the Roasted Malt adds as much bitterness as the hops (probably more) so should I just brew with a 50gm instead of 60gm, or pop a little somethign else in for a bit of bittering?

With bittering additions, I wouldn't hesitate to substitute so you can keep the IBUs in the same basic range...How much would you lose if you only added 50?

Well, technically, I should only be using 56gm, btu last time I used 60gm, So i ended up with 19.4IBU instead of 17.2. 50gm will take me back to around 16.9. I'll pop like 5gm of something high in AA like Simcoe I think.

I don't think most people would detect a few IBUs difference. You're close enough that I'd go with what you have and use it as a reference point to see if you can detect it.

Good point, I will hopefull have them side by side in 2 weeks to see if the extra 10gm makes a difference, although last time I was 180gm short of Roasted barley, and used 140gm extra chocolate malt... so who knows? :D

Between 15 and 20 ibu's would probably be hard to notice.
