I was going through my stock and realized that I have some last year harvest pellets that I would rather trade out for some different varieties so someone else can brew with them sooner than I would later.

EDIT: I've got nothing to trade for now

Well, I dunno what exactly I'm after, but I do have a bunch of pellets...and pellets don't work so well with my new setup, so I'd be happy to trade pellets for leaf.

I might be down to trade some Tetts for those Simcoe. Need to see how much I have left. Gonna use some in both the Belgian Pale and Tripel I am doing next, but neither one should call for much.

I will also probably be looking for some old ass shit soon for a plambic.

I'd be interested as well, let me get back to the house and see what I have for trade. I know I have some leaf Saaz.

How much you looking at needing for the lambic? I got some hops that are going on two years old. Nice and cheesy yellow. I will have to look and see how much i got total, I was going to use some but probably not more than like and ounce or two.

PseudoChef

Recipes usually call for around 3 oz of old hops. If they're cheesy though, they're not good to use.

My question too - I have some Czech Saaz leaf hops that when you shake out of the bag, there is an orange cheesy powder that comes out of the bag as well. They smell fine, so how would one know if they are bad?

PseudoChef
02-06-2009, 12:59 AM
If they smell cheesy, then they're just going to impart that funk on your beer. Hops can get old and lose their aa% and aroma, but retain their preservative properties.

The yellow stuff you see in the bag is probably just old lupulin glands from the flowers.

MrMarbleHead
02-06-2009, 01:05 AM
I didn't mean that they were cheesy as in they SMELL like cheese, I meant that they have faded over time and have become Yellow, sort of like cheese is yellow. I will take a picture of them and send it too you.

Bringing back an old thread...

I have a 3 - 4 ounces of Centennial pellets and 2 ounces of centennial leaf. I don't think I'm going to get to use these anytime soon, so if someone needs them, here's the offer.

They have been vacuum sealed in my freezer. I think 2007 crop, maybe 2008.

flyangler18
04-03-2009, 03:47 PM
I'll add my tuppence to the pile:

4 oz Cascade pellet, 5.5 % AA, 2008 crop
4 oz Sterling pellet, 7.1% AA, 2008 crop
4 oz Challenger, 7.7% AA, 2008 crop

Look to swap for whole leaf Hallertau, Tett, Magnum and other continental varieties.

I used up all of my Cent pellets, but I have the leaf's still. I used them to dry hop a pale ale, and no oxidation flavors were present.

Interested in leaf?

I have so much amarillo in storage right now.. I have a shit ton of hops actually, probably 7 or 8 lbs ranging from simcoe to am to styrian, mt hood, centennial. what sucks is it's been in AC temp for about 2.5 months instead of freezer temp. I hope they are still usable in the end of Nov.

Thank you for bumping this. I have been meaning to post up some hops for trade.

I have 8 oz of Simcoe pellets ('09 harvest). They are all sealed up in one vacuum bag. I would like to trade the whole half pound, but can split it up if the trades are right.

Make me an offer if you are up for some bartering, doesn't have to be hops, could be anything brewing or nonbrewing related.
