Experimenting today. Really not sure what to expect, but I'm feeling lazy so I'm using what's sitting on top of grain piles and yeast that's already to go (racking on top of). I have EKG, but I realllllly need a break from English hops, so I'm using simcoe. Here's what I've thrown together.

OG: 1.072
IBU: 62.1
Color: 8.7

12lb Golden Promise
.7lb biscuit
.6lb crystal 40
2oz Simcoe 20 min
2oz SImcoe 5 min
Wyeast 1768 English Bitter

yeast that's already to go (racking on top of).

I've always wanted to try that, but I worry about ending up with too much trub/cake/break in the second batch. Plus, everytime I think about it I'm brewing a pale batch but have a cake from a dark batch!

I've never had any problems racking on top of. Love doing it. OK, so I can't find my munich, I decided to switch it up. New recipe, grains weighed out, about to be crushed.

12lbs golden promise
.7lb biscuit
.6lb crystal 40

changed the OG to 1.072
changed color to 8.7

1.067 and a lot of wort left in the keggle. I can't figure out what went wrong but my diptube just quit working. :(

How did it turn out? I really regret missing the rest of the brewcast.

Tasted great, but only got like 4.5 gallons out before the diptube quit picking up wort. I was to drunk to fidget with it and just said fuck it

I dry hopped my simple simcoe last night and oh it smelled so delicious.

Looking back I probably should have put way more flavoring hops in like you did. Oh well, should be good none the less.

I did all late addition hopping. My first brew doing this, but I think I like the concept. Get the bitterness and a shitload of flavor/aroma with just slightly more hops.
