Got a couple of homebrews from Ryan, the first i opened not knowing whether it was a Trippel or a Soured Pale. And it is all Tripple, and really good at that.

Initial - Nice pop when i opened the bottle, Poured a cloudy (from shipping) amber with orange highlights, had a nice head that lasted about halfway through the beer and faded to a thin layer with lacing on the glass.

Aroma - Sweet malts and banana with a slight floral quality. There is that distinct spicy Belgian yeast character in the back bone of this one. No hops in the nose. There is a nice subtle oak aroma that hits you as it warms with the wine character coming through with the oak, aged on wine soaked oak IIRC. All this follows up with an alcohol note that lets you know that this beer packs a punch at 12+ ABV.

Flavor - Sweet up front, and all the character in the nose carries through into the flavor. There is a complex spiciness that is a combo of the hops and yeast, coupled with the alcohol bite. Very warm in my belly. Only half way through this one and feeling the warmth in my face from it.

Mouthfeel - Medium body that hides well behind the higher carbonation and Finishes very dry on the back of the tongue just as any good Belgian Tripel should.

Overall - Spot the F*ck On! Great beer dude, glad i got to try this one. Thanks.

Glade you enjoyed it, It has been one of my favorite beers I have made. Just have to watch out, that ABV sneaks up on ya. Like I told you I have not had one in a while, so nice to hear they are aging well. Thanks for the kind words.

Initial - Popped open nicely, and pours pale yellow with just a hint of haze and a nice 1/2 inch head that dissipates to a white cap that hung around till the end.

Aroma - The fruity esters from the yeast are right up front, the hops seem to have faded over time, still there but not in that fresh dry hopped kinda way. The spice from the hops plays well with the spicy fruit from the yeast. There is a strong Belgian malt backing in the aroma.

Flavor - Belgian malts followed up by the spice from the hops, the hop flavor seems to be masked by the malt but the carbonation does bring out the hops on the back of the tongue.

Mouthfeel - DRY....Perfectly dry, Nice i like that a lot, it really helps to accentuate the spicyness.

Overall - I really wish I could have had this beer when it was fresh. I bet the hops just popped in it. I think that it aged fine, nothing off about it. Very clean and crisp, but knowing what this beer was supposed to be from reading the threads when you made it, i don't think that the aroma hops held up over time. Still a great beer though.

Thats to bad about the hop flavor. Like I said that was the last one, I had so I was not sure about how time and moving treated it. Thanks for the review. If I make it again, Ill get you a fresh one.
