So I am out setting up the brewery tonight getting ready for tomorrows brewday. And i was moving stuff around. I had a 6.5 gallon glass carboy sitting upside down in a carboy drying rack, and i didn't watch where i had put it.
Needless to say, i opened my kegerator door and hear a loud CRASH! AWWW Shit! Knocked the carboy over, and now i am one less carboy. :(
That sucked! Good news is i still have all fingers and toes and no lacerations. Guess i am going to the LHBS in the AM for a Better Bottle.
Moral of the story.......Mind your Brewing equipment and where you put it.
BTW, No i wasn't drunk, i probably will be in a little bit now.

I thought you were going to say you had some things stolen when you weren't paying attention.
Sorry for the loss of the carboy.

Good move. I bought one last year, and it was soon followed by three more. I can't imagine going back to glass, now my old carboys just gather dust...

I keep thinking I'll get around to using them for something long-term, like a mead or a barley-wine. But I never do.
I've had one of them for 24 years, and would hate to part with it...is it wrong to be emotionally attached to a carboy?

5 gallon better bottle at our HBS is about 26 bucks. A 6.5 or 7 gallon bucket with lid and grommet for airlock is about 14

Yeah a 6 gallon Glass carboy is $49 at the LHBS and like ron said the bucket was $14, I think a 6 gallon BB is under $30.

Williams Brewing has 6 gallon Better Bottles for $22.90. I like buckets as well as the next brewer, but when I can get a BB for just a few bucks more...

Hell Wop,we started out with buckets and carboys(primaries and secondaries respectively)but have evolved into skipping secondary altogether and using buckets exclusively.Except for occasional batches fo hard lemon or apple our carboys gather dust also.
