Just sampled the limited quantity Dogfish Head "Theobroma"... very impressive! It's probably too early for anyone to have a clone recipe but I thought I would put the feeler out... anyone have a recipe for something similar?
According to the Dogfish Head documentation it's brewed with:
Soconusco Cocoa Nibs

That brew looks tasty, although I don't know where to start with a recipe.

I've had some high end chocolates with chili powder sprinkled on them and they were amazing. I could definitely see this in a big tasty porter. What kind of beer was it skylar? Was it dark, light, amber? I'll have to check with my beer store and see if they've got any in.
Oh, and welcome to the forum :)

When I saw the description I assumed it would be a Porter or Stout as well... but it was much lighter.
To me it tasted like the base style was a Pilsner or Medium Bodied Ale but the coloring was much more along the lines of a Weissbier or darker lager. Then again that could have been a by product of the dark colored ingredients used.

That's an interesting take on it, I guess they really want the cocoa and spice to shine. Do you think the pepper and cocoa came through well?

The cocoa came through fantastically, you got a lot of it in the finish. The chilies were more up front in the taste, but much milder. If I didn't know the chilie's were there I would have just chalked it up as a mystery spice.
