Oh yes. I get to drink this EF more often than the other EF happens though.

What kind of brewing forum would this be without a little EF love? The EF is universal, baby! :P

It's probably for the best...no point in running aground on that muddy shoal. :shark:

I have this on deck as my next brew. Just a few changes.

I subbed WLP007 for wyeast 1098, replaced the Centennial w/ Cascade and replaced the Williamette w/ Fuggles just because I had those hops in inventory.

And FWIW, Edmund Fitzgerald was president of Northwestern Mutual Life. The ship was commisioned to be built by NML and named after him.

Don't forget "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" is a very cool song.

I use 1028 with this recipe. It's tasty!
The WLP007 is a touch dry.

BYO had a clone of this awhile back. I loaded it into BeerSmith at home b/c I love EF and plan to brew it. Can't recall what yeast they recommended. I'll have to look when I get home. I know OB's gets raves over at TBH.

Rhoo, it's a damn tasty beer. I'd brew OB's before I tried BYO's clone. I've not been terribly pleased with some of their clone results.

Hell's Bells, I'll have to give it a try, then!

But can I half this recipe to make a five gallon batch? Brand-spankin new to AG

Yes, Generally splitting in half is ok, be careful as some of us brew 5.5 gallons to allow for whole hop water loss and trub.

What about using the 1318 London Ale III yeast?

I haven't tried it. You can use anything you want :)

I've honestly never used the 1318. A friend of mine used it once and it didn't want to finish. Who knows what the deal was with it.
