Do hops like lime? I hope so, because asparagus does and my hops are in my asparagus garden.

Acidic soils will need lime, since hops like a pH of around 6 to 6.5.

Have you checked your soil pH? Although New England soil is notoriously acidic, you may find that you don't need lime.

I always send of a soil sample to our county extension agent before I add lime or acidifiers so I dont shock my plants. Its not too terribly expensive here where I live.

I use Biologic Labs. They will give you specific lime and fert requirements for what you are growing.

Good point. The box hardware stores have pH kits. It may be a little late though. I already spread lime. I was more concerned about the asparagus. This is going to be the first harvest year for the bed. Last year I was sneaking stems. They where nothing like grocery store asparagus. They were nutty and my wife and I where eating it raw.

BTW, I love asparagus! I like it grilled. Never tried it raw.

It's all fun and games with asparagus until you have to pee.

Yup! Add some red wine and you really have a party.

Good, fresh asparagus is soooooo good raw. It tastes just like snap peas. I love asparagus, but only primo shit.

We had a seed swap up here at the local farmers market a few weeks back and I managed to pick up 8 asparagus seedlings. They wont be productive for two or three more years but I remember having asparagus fresh out of the garden before I moved out of my parents house. The only thing we ever bought was meat since mom canned her own sauces, jelly, jam and other veggies. Now that weve finally escaped to a 5 acre lot I cant wait to get gardening!
