Had both of these on my birthday. Not the brightest idea after happy hour and dinner beers, but what can you do. I should have had more water before bed, I guess

Stone XII Anniversary: Bitter Chocolate Oatmeal Stout (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/147/43491) - Pours a thick black, with milk-chocolate head. Mine dissipating pretty quickly. Aroma is definitely chocolate and roasted barely. No oatmeal (toastiness/bready) notes there. Taste is extremely bitter with a hint of alcohol (beer is 9.2%). Any creaminess from the oatmeal isn't present. This beer definitely needs some time to age to mellow the bitter chocolate. Or, it needs to be turned into a sweet, chocolate stout. It's almost like taking a spoonful of unsweetened cocoa with just a hint of residual sweetness.

Oh well, I'll pick up another bottle and let it cellar for a while and try again.

Urthel Hop-It (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/1339/26159) - So I was basically hammered when I popped the cork of this one, but I could still tell it was a magnificent beer. American hops with the fruity/estery Belgian yeast. I'm gonna do a Belgian IPA now, no doubt. I got stupid drunk after about the first snifter full, so no deep/technical tasting notes, but I know that it was simply awesome.
