I am looking for an easy pumpkin ale recipe that uses canned pumpkin. I will be using all grain and doing a batch sparge (http://www.batchsparge.com). (http://www.reviewbeforebuying.com)

Any ideas? I plan on starting it in a few weeks.

Is there some relevance to the sparge method with respect to recipe?

Now's definitely the time to start thinking about a fall beer recipe. I've never brewed a pumpkin beer...maybe this year.

I think Roobarb has a pumpkin recipe that gets some good feedback. Maybe he will chime in.

I was going to do something like this:

slightly modified from BCS

5.5 Gallons

10.5# 2 row
.5 Aromatic
.5 Crystal 60
.5 Crystal 120
.25 Special B

Willamette 5.4% 1.5oz @ 60

Cinnamon 1/2 tsp @ 1min
Ginger 1/4 tsp @ 1min
Nutmeg 1/8 tsp @ 1min
AllSpice 1/8 tsp @ 1min

I plan to pitch this on a London Ale Yeast and use one medium Pie pumpkin which JZ says to cook at 330 degrees until they become soft and the juices caramelized on the pan.

I wish I could brew. My brew room is filled with the stuff from the other side of my basement during the rebuild :(

Here is my Pumpkin King recipe. My big secret for brewing with pumpkin in the mash is doing a large decoction pull. It makes the sparge a million times better. PLEASE NOTE: this recipe is for 4g final batch size. You could brew it with a neutral ale yeast and probably get similar results (though it is better as a lager).
