Similar to OFlans Creamy Honey Red Ale, they were spawn of a discussion on another board. I didn't get the efficiency i was hoping for the first time around, but all in all the beer was quite good and finished close to what I was shooting for. It is a sweeter beer with a strong honey overtone from the honey malt, and I think that the Oat Malt adds a nice roundness to the finish of the beer. The color was right on to what I was aiming for, a nice deep amber red. I think that the noble hops really helped to balance and not overpower the beer.

I really enjoyed both yours and mine. Was a great concept that turned into a really good beer.

Round two on this one, Brewing it up this weekend. No major changes to the recipe. I will have to find some hop substitutions though, I am pretty sure that the LHBS won't have what I need. Also I should get better Eff with my new mash tun so I can hit my original numbers I was shooting for, 1.065-1.070 range.

Updates to follow.

Just pulled a sample off of the latest batch of this and, DAMN! Pitching that huge yeast cake of S-04 into this really chewed it up. Finished out in a week, at 1.012. According to beersmith it is Ringing in at 7.5% this round. Gonna have to put up a warning above the tap handle for guests :D

Tastes great, I can't wait to get this one on tap again.

Just tapped the first keg of the HORA, and it is really tasty this year. The Alcohol notes that I picked up at kegging have faded and is very smooth and drinkable now.
