made this last tuesday, it sounds like a glass of soda it bubbles so much right now.

lalvin k1v 1116 yeast (2x 5g packets, rehydrated 15 min)

OG 1.152
est FG 1.040
SRM crushed velvet Elvis purple


12 # wildflower honey (from sanders)
192 oz red grape juice (Langers)
192 oz concord grape juice (food club)

yeast energizer
yeast nutrient

mix well



staggered nutrient addition
24 hrs 1 tbsp yeast energizer
48 hrs 1/2 tbsp yeast nutrient
78 hrs 1/2 tbsp yeast energizer



trying to keep it 64-66*F



****when you add your staggered nutriens and mix, realize that there is soooo much CO2 in suspension that it is very much like stirring a bottle of mt dew. It will foam ALL OVER THE FLOOR. :D

Ferment about a month...age additional 10 weeks at least.
The staggered nutrient schedule cuts the time from making to drinking waaaaay down.

It's best to age in bulk, so a carboy works good.

Yes, the staggered nutrient addition schedule has made mead making a breeze. It used to take 12+ months before you would want to touch a mead. With SNA, you can be drinking in 3-4 months, though they will improve with additional age.
