I want to try to get all my hop bitterness out of my late hops in a Brown ale I'm going to brew Tuesday. Meaning no 60 min hops whatsoever. Thinking 20, 15, and 1 min additions. It will put my IBUs at 36.5 and my IBU/SG ratio at 0.686 according to Beersmith which is in line for style.
Anyone have any experience with this? I'm just not sure if it will work or not, but I'm willing to give it a shot if feasable.

Next you will have to try FWH and then hop steeping to see what you think of each method
FWH:

I've done a couple hop bursted brews and do more "hybrid" additions or traditional 60/30/10-0 than anything these days.

I've done FWH. That is what got me interested in late hops.

I've read the Mr. Malty article and I planned on doing an all late hop wheat in the next brew or two. I was going to do .5 oz at 30 minutes and .5oz at 15 minute.

I haven't really thought about bursting a low ibu brew were you don't want the hops to be the star attraction....interesting but I wonder if you're going to be happy with the emphasis on flavor over bitterness contribution in a wheat

Wheats go quick around here, so if the late hop bursting doesn't work well, someone ( read: inlaws) will drink it because "it's a wheat".

So I just bottled the APA. Tasteing it and smelling I noticed much more hop flavor that wasn't nearly as bitter at all it was kinda weird. (It was 5 ibu lower but I didn't thi 5 ibu would be that dramatic) But with a lack of malt flavor its a little unbalanced but I can tell a difference. The aroma not so much. But we will wait for the carbination for the final say
