Picking my copy up first thing in the morning. Those of you without a ps3 that are gamers are missing out what's in the running to be the game of the decade.

Game of the decade my ass! Best videogame to film adaptation maybe. 45min cut scenes tho... That shat is CRAZY. And u know people will interupt u cuz its "just a game" and not give it the respect it deserves.

People who really respect the game/story telling aspect will be blown away. I've been playing for a couple hours now and the cutscenes are amazing and really keep the energy going in it. So, amazing story + amazing storytelling + unbelievable gameplay = possibly best game of the decade.
....
not to mention you can pause or skip the cut scenes altogether.

I have no doubt that is an amazing game... and does it have online play now or is that a stand alone?
but for the un-initiated it seems like way to much to take it... or does it present things in a way that u dont need to know the difference between liquid and solid? I watched my friend play threw the entire first game and was entertained fully... and that was just watching... but after that i was so lost with the story i made it hard to like.

Here's the beginning of a review I've started writing after 7 hours of gameplay so far:
Metal Gear Solid 4 goes back to the roots of [hard to think of a proper adjective] gaming. The last time I sat and played a game this long on the day of purchase was Final Fantasy VI (3 in the US). I have never played a Metal Gear game before, but I am aboslutely blown away by the story. So much so, I almost forgot how awesome the gameplay is. I never had a playstation system until the playstation 3, so I missed out on the metal gear series. Now, about 1/4 of the way through the game, I'm feeling the need to go back and play the rest from beginning to end. The story is deep, twisted and a bit confusing, but not so much that I can't keep up with the gist of it. I did the Joystiq.com primer for Metal Gear virigins and it let me know enough about the primary characters that I feel involved.
The script is fabulous, the acting is top notch, the animation phenomenal and the graphics... nothing like it. I just watched a rattlesnake eat a guinea pig in a forest and I thought I was on the discovery channel for a minute. I just found myself accidentally skipping some of a cut scene.. probably the last two minutes, but I restarted the entire ps3 just so I could see what was said and done.
