In preparation of our trip and investment in real studio time we setup a little home studio and started recording some tracks to get ready. Here's one called Monocular, this is just raw/live rhythm guitar, drums and bass. Will be laying vocals and synth over top tomorrow or tuesday. The verses feel a bit repetitive without the melody, but it gets cooler towards the end. Would appreciate any feedback.

TBH, I'm not feeling the drums so out of sync with the guitar rhythm outside of the chorus section. I like the guitar and bass lines a lot though.

Do you mean the chorus parts where we change it up completely?

Not a big fan of the bass TONE, but dude definitely has some chops.
Your tone, however, is delightful.

Ibanez 5-string... guy is a guitarist at heart but plays everything and is happy being our bassist.

Yea, for this demo/practice we plugged him straight into the board instead of through his amp. We miced my amp.

We miced my amp. If you can't get them out, a cat should help.

Its a nice bass, not quite as top of the line as his guitar equipment though. Here's another track that we still have to lay other parts over so it gets a bit repetitive. Its an oldie, but redone with a new ending the bassist came up with

Bass sounds quite different on that track.

He knew he was going to be soloing, probably turned himself up ;)

My brother used to be in a band, a trio. The Bassist was really great, guy by the name of Chris Slack, probably ahead of his time. In retrospect, I think he always had the desire to play his Bass like the lead guitar. He probably could have been a Flea or a Claypool type. His style of playing gelled really well with my brother but there was always an underlying competition going on it seemed. Where I am going with that...I am not sure, but just reminded me of him.

I play bass like a guitar, its hard not to when that's your style.

Oh yea, he plays this song with a pick too, that definitely affected the tone

GOD DAMN, love the tone and the fuzz wah on two people.
Walk Away sounds like Dishwalla a little bit. (Which isn't a bad thing)
Tupperware link didn't work, but I just clicked on the version that was on sound cloud.
Not a big fan of the production...........but I'm a prick about that kinda stuff. There's just not enough dynamics. And, I'm only listening to MP3's, which I also am not a fan of.

None of them are mastered, just mixed down, but I don't understand production values at all.

Had a huge show last night. Just us, two sets and we rocked the fuck out. Place was packed all night. People dancing and even yelling for an encore when we were done (and we obliged!). This shit just got real fun, hopefully we can keep the pace going. Wish we had had some merchandise to sell last night, could've made some real cash.
