I posted this on the other forum, but I'm sure some of you Wisconsin folks havent' seen it. I'm having a brewday at my cottage on July 10. It's not huge, but there is plenty of room for tents, or campers, or people inside the cottage, as well as a house in town (12 miles from the cottage). It's going to be a small event, since everyone says it's "too far" away. Still, I wanted to throw the idea out there in case anyone is heading up this way from lower Michigan or Wisconsin.

Hey thanks for the invite. My coworker comes from there, and always talks about it. Sounds similar to where he usually vacations...in a little cottage by the lake. Just sayin. :D

Thanks for the kind words- I think it'll be a good time.

Anybody who has ever been here says they love it, but they don't seem to come back.................................:D

It's definitely a different world than many city dwellers can imagine. The nearest mall (real mall, not a store or two, but a mall) is about 150 miles away. There is one highway running east to west through the entire UP (maybe 350 miles), and that's two lanes in most places with a couple of "passing lanes" thrown in.

We don't have to live here in retirement, but we're choosing to. There are millions of acres of public land, and lots of wide open spaces.

So, yeah, a cottage on a lake. With loons calling, fish to be caught, and lots of quiet. Except for the drunks in my driveway.
