Oh man, my wife saved us a shitload of money today. We've had a leak in our pool that's been costing us $80 to $100/month in water. I was getting ready to rent a cement saw because I was so sure where the leak was. Well, Katie was cleaning the back yard today and noticed a bubbling/very wet area in the yard. I took a shovel to the area after work for two minutes and sure enough, small leak in pipe that's NOT under the cement. WOOHOO!! Gonna patch it up tonight :)

Good deal. In my limited experience with sawing concrete, it's not a lot of fun.

Hey great news! In other news, I noticed the toilet bolt was broken so I figured last night, I'd replace them and when you do this you have to replace the wax ring...so I had a premonition, I suppose it's related to doing so many repairs, that the "what if I find more work". Well, pull it off and I see this stuff all powdery under there, and I was like "WtF?". Turns out the uric acid must have dissolved (the boys were smaller and control is an issue...aim for the middle!) the metal flange turning it into a pile of dust. So now I have to redo that fucker. Grrrr. This time it will be a plastic flange (didn't get one before I was leery of it breaking) and I'll caulk the base. I never thought for an instant that would have been an issue...but live and learn.

I had the same problem with my toilet upstairs. Lots of water and stuff so thought it was the wax seal, replaced that, but kinda f* it up cuz I screwed the bolt to tight and I heard a pop. But still leaked, found out the asshat that put the toilet together didnt screw the bolt down enough on the tank. Then my shower leaked cuz again, the same asshat didnt put the shower together right cuz he didnt attach the drain to the shower with pvc cement or a screwed it together. I love owning my own place.

I know man, I don't want to think about it. I would've raged so hard had I fucked up all that cement and didn't even find a leak. My wife saved us a shitload of money AND raging.

Always look for the wet spot.

Them's wise words, in many different situations.

I never really went anywhere. Just don't post much cause I have only brewed once this year :o

I like to interject little offhanded jabs at people every now and again though.

don't discount the fact that a dedicated block saw is in order or you would be creating one!
